Local churches remember Charleston shooting victims

JACKSONVILLE N.C. (WNCT) – Churches across the East remembered the victims of the Charleston church shooting Sunday.

For many churches, it was first official service since the shooting this past week. Some rang bells, while others just prayed for healing and comfort in such a difficult time.

Ben Brown, pastor at the First Bible Church in Jacksonville, said it was important to remember those lost in the shooting.

“The Lord being central and focused in our nation is what is most important,” Brown said. “We need the Lord, and many of the travesties are the result of a nation that’s pushed god out. We need to look at him in faith.”

Brown said he was inspired by the way the victim’s families and Charleston church community handled the whole situation.
