Parks and Recreation staff working with community to keep parks safe

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — Some Greenville Community Shelter residents seek relief in the nearby shade provided by the Dream Park. This was a concern last year. Some citizens worried about the close proximity of the shelter to the playground.

City officials say the facility’s residents work with the Parks and Recreation crew to keep the park safe while helping residents of the city.

“Residents of the homeless shelter are also residents of Greenville,” says Gary Fenton with Greenville Parks and Recreation. “They have a right to be in the park but we understand that there are concerns that people may have or perceptions, or fears and we work to address those as well.”

Fenton says if you are worried about someone at any park in Greenville, you can contact the park ranger who will look into the situation for you. For that contact information, click here.
