Pedestrian struck in Greenville Wednesday night

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – A man is recovering in the hospital after being hit by a car late Wednesday night in Greenville.

The accident happened just before midnight in the 2,000 block of Allen Road near Woodridge Mini Storage.

29 year old Jeffrey Wilkes was walking in the road when a car driven by 23-year old Quaysean Swindell struck him. A 9 On Your Side crew arrived on scene just moments after the accident happened.

Swindell says he was trying to pass another vehicle and he hit Wilkes, who he didn’t see. State troopers charged the Swindell with careless and reckless driving.

Wilkes was taken to the hospital by ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.

Red Oaks Fire, Bell Arthur EMS, Greenville Police and State Troopers were all on scene as of 12:15 a.m. Thursday morning.






Traffic was backed up for about 30 minutes as crews directed cars around the accident scene.
