GREENVILLE, NC (WNCT) – The City of Greenville reported success with its wellness program.
The program worked with Greenville Utilities at its operations center to teach employees about healthy living.
Coordinator Barbara Avery says many employees are now leading active lives and that is saving tax dollars.
“They tend to be an employee that has to go to the doctor or go to the dentist less frequently than others,” said Avery. “We also know statistically that absenteeism for people that are more proactive about their health is substantially less.”
The city saved more than $700,000 in health insurance costs.
Leaders hope to continue the trend with more help from this program.
