HAVELOCK, N.C.—Authorities in Carteret County have made an arrest in the case of an assault that occurred early this week.

31-year old Joshua Adam Evens was arrested Wednesday at the Sherwood Motel in Havelock by Havelock police and Carteret County Deputies in connection to the case. Evens is accused of stabbing 29-year old Schellney Shamar Reels multiple times in the arms and chest Monday. The assault occurred after a drug deal between the pair had gone bad. Reels is currently at Vidant Medical Center in stable condition.

Evens has been charged with one count each of Attempted Murder and Burglary. He is being held in the Carteret County Jail under a $500,000 bond. His first court appearance is scheduled for Thursday morning.
