Beaufort Co. residents continue fight for Blounts Creek

BLOUNTS CREEK, N.C. (WNCT) – Some Beaufort County residents are continuing their fight to save Blounts Creek.

The “Save Blounts Creek Movement” is a grassroots effort by residents who want to keep the Martin Marietta Mining Company from dumping 12 million gallons of water into the creek per day. The company says this won’t have a negative impact on the creek.

Local and state officials have already granted the permits to begin the project, but many in the community continue to protest. They are meeting Wednesday night at the Cotton Patch Landing at 6:30 p.m.
