CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WNCT) – Some Camp Lejeune Marines are returning to base victorious Tuesday morning.
That’s after defeating some Fort Bragg soldiers in a seven on seven competition in Charlotte.
The Carolina Panthers hosted their first ever USO of North Carolina military camp.
The Marines and soldiers got the chance to spend the day like they were real NFL players, going through team meetings, practices and an actual seven on seven skeleton competition.
Camp Lejeune came out smoking and the Marines were the big winners.
“It was unreal to see the players on the sideline cheering us on and to go against, I guess you could say, our sister service in another competition,” said Gunnery Sgt. Thomas Grant, U.S. Marines. “It was just outstanding! Everyone got motivated for it from day one and, up until the game started, we just had the confidence to go out there and do what we do as a Marine Corps.”
“Marines came out on top, give them all the congrats,” said Staff Sgt. Patrick Spence, U.S. Army.
A day that no one will soon forget as the Camp Lejeune Marines took home the big trophy.
