GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Hundreds of new Pirates are embarking on their next journey. East Carolina University’s freshman orientation is now underway.
More than 400 students and 500 family members were in Greenville Monday and Tuesday for the first orientation session, and this is only the beginning.
ECU kicked off the first of ten orientation sessions Monday.
It gives new students a chance to register for classes, learn about university rules, and start planting their roots in Pirate nation.
The Fleming family from Holly Springs says they look forward to seeing their son take this big leap.
“We’re anxious to see what he can do with his life now that he’s starting out here. We’re really happy with the campus, happy with the school, pleasantly surprised actually. We’re looking forward to his future. It’s hard to watch him leave home, but we’re excited for him,” Jeff Fleming said.
Day two of the first session wraps up Tuesday. The next orientation begins Wednesday.
ECU will welcome more than 9,000 students and family members at orientation sessions throughout the summer.
