COLUMBIA, N.C. (WNCT) – Heavy smoke is blamed for a vehicle accident in Tyrrell County on Tuesday.
It happened just before 1 p.m. on N.C. 94 just south of Columbia.
Tyrrell County Sheriff Darryl Liverman said the vehicle struck a piece of farm machinery and was lodged underneath the equipment. Investigators said there was heavy smoke on the roadway from burning wheat fields at the time.
The two occupants of the car were taken to Outer Banks Hospital for treatment. There’s no word on their current condition.
