Blueberries don’t suffer in the heat

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – Blueberries are not suffering from the rising temperatures. They thrive in the hot weather and this year’s crops are excellent because of it.

According to Andy McLawhorn, a farmer in Pitt County,”the blueberries aren’t suffering my pick-your-own customers are suffering in the heat.”

Squash, cucumbers, and watermelon are among other fruits and vegetables that tolerate the heat. Corn is what’s suffering the most this season.
