New Bern approves deal to lower rates

NEW BERN, N.C. (WNCT) – The New Bern Board of Alderman formally approved the sale of assets to Duke Energy.

Electricities NCEMPA deal with Duke Energy is set to alleviate debt for 32 towns and cities across the state.

The sale must be approved by all entities involved. Greenville and Kinston leaders already gave their approval.

New Bern’s board will talk about rate reductions at their next meeting on June 23rd.

The city already approved its own rate reduction in utility bills to start for the next fiscal year.
