Teens charged with assault in Havelock shooting

HAVELOCK, N.C. (WNCT) – Two teenagers are in jail after a shooting in Havelock Sunday morning. Thomas Callahan, 18, and Brian Wilkerson, 18, are charged with assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill or inflict serious injury.

Havelock Police say they received a call around 2:30 a.m. Sunday. The shooting occurred on the 200 block of Catawba Road. Officers say when they arrived they found two people shot, one in the abdomen, the other in the leg.

Both victims were taken to the hospital and are now at Vidant Medical Center for surgery.

Callahan and Wilkerson are being held under a $50,000 secured bond and are expected in court Monday morning.
