The community came together Sunday at Tiebreakers in Greenville for Devantae Dortch’s family. Managers say they will be able to give $1,000 dollars raised in the three hour period of the fundraiser. The sports bar and grill donated 10% of all sales from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m.

Dortch died last Saturday in a swimming accident on the Tar River.  He was a sophomore at DH Conley and was a member of the football team. Friends of Dortch showed up at tiebreakers to eat and raise money.  Raffle tickets were handed out and a 50/50 drawing.

DH Conley football coach says it’s great to see the community members helping out a family in need.

“It just speaks to our Conley family the Viking nation and how everyone wants to support Davante and his loved ones through this,” said Nate Conner.

Coach Conner says Devantae always put a smile on everyone’s faces and he’ll be missed.
