Dozens gathered at the East Carolina University Heart Institute on Wednesday night to talk about the future leader of the UNC System.
The Board of Governors forced out current President Tom Ross. He will be stepping down in January.
On Wednesday, ECU hosted one of four public forums for people to add their input in the Board’s search for the new president.
“We must have a president with a commitment to and experience with higher education leadership,” said ECU Faculty Chair Andrew Morehead. “They must be an individual whose taught students; whose carried out research and who has led faculties and perform the central mission of teaching, advising and mentoring students.”
The Board expects to have a pick in place by the fall.
The system serves 17 campuses in North Carolina including ECU.
