There’s new information after a child and one of his family members were injured in what police are calling an accidental shooting Wednesday night.

Kinston police say one victim was a male juvenile, whose name and age are being withheld, and the other was 19-year-old Ma’Quez Jones. Both were transported from Lenoir Memorial to Vidant Medical Center.
Police say the juvenile was shot in the left leg and Jones was shot in the right leg with a wound to his genitals.
Right now, the shooting is being investigated as an accidental discharge of a firearm. Officers are still investigating, but early indications show the gun went off inside a vehicle.
Police say charges may be pending.
