Hundreds gathered in Greenville Monday at the Town Common for the city’s ceremony.

The D.H. Conley Band stood and played “Taps” for the crowd. The school’s color guard also joined into the ceremony.

Members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars laid a wreath to honor fallen soldiers.

Dr. Frank James delivered an address to the crowd ahead of a moment of silence.

“I think many of our vets are still suffering,” said James.  “I study PTSD and traumatic brain injury and many vets need support still and deserve it for what they have done for our county.”

James has worked for the Greenville Veterans Administration Clinic for the past five years.
