Parents at Atlantic Beach on Saturday had problems keeping track of their kids. Lifeguards say they had a busy Saturday afternoon at trying to place children back with their parents.  They tell WNCT that nine children were missing over the course of the day.

Laura Urzula visits the beach often; she says she purposely sits by a lifeguard stand so her niece can find her.

“Where there are kids and people playing because accidents happen, no matter how careful you are, or how awesome your plan is, stuff happens. It’s super important to have lifeguards looking after everybody,” said Laura Urzula.

If you lose your child on the beach, go to a lifeguard stand and they will send crews out to help search.

A few guidelines to make sure your child is safe while family vacationing is to write your cell phone number on your child’s arm with a sharpie and always make sure at least one family member has a current family photo.
