A Pitt County teenager has been found safe in Oklahoma after her mother reported her missing in April.
Ofelia Toledo says her 14-year-old, Jackeline, ran away with her 19-year-old boyfriend, Raul Diaz.
The Pitt County Sheriff’s Office says Jackeline is safe and Diaz was arrested by authorities in Tulsa County, Oklahoma.
A warrant had been out for his arrest and now he’s being held as a fugitive from justice without bond.
Last month, Toledo spoke to WNCT, saying she believed her daughter was in harm.
Despite her concerns, Jackeline’s situation did not qualify for an Amber Alert.
Both Jackeline and Diaz are students at North Pitt High School.
Diaz told a CNN affiliate reporter that he knew what he was doing was wrong and tried to change his identity so he would not be caught.
Oklahoma detectives say at some point Jackeline wanted to go home but Diaz would not let her.
Pitt County Deputies are waiting to talk to Diaz. No word yet on when he will be transferred from Oklahoma to North Carolina.
Deputies told WNCT Jackeline would be back Thursday night or Friday morning.
