A mix up in pool fees for a local gym forced many to social media, asking the company to make things right.
Just days before Memorial Day weekend, Greenville’s Fitness Connection raised its rates for members who thought the pool was included.
WNCT caught up with a few families who were just outraged by the inconsistent notices.
At first, customers say they were promised that the pool was included in their membership, free of charge. When January rolled around members say that remained the policy—the company says otherwise.
Fitness Connection says they transitioned to a three tiered membership with only one including the pool. They cited financial losses.
Members WNCT spoke to say they were never notified of the change and were even told that nothing changed as of two weeks ago.
“Legally they can do this, I just feel like it’s not a fair way to treat their customers. I don’t feel like i’m being respected.” Jennifer Orr said.
“I received a personal email from the general manager stating one thing, Facebook has said another and then there’s a reaction from corporate sending another decision.” Nickie Dixon said.
WNCT emailed the store manager about the policy, we were referred to the corporate office. Over the phone the John Newbury, Regional President of Fitness Connection, owned up to the mix up and said that they are doing everything to make it right.
“There were some discrepancies and so what we’re doing is we’re addressing each and everyone of those immediately. We hear them, we understand the situation and we’re going to make it right at the end of the day, no matter what it cost.” Newbury said.
WNCT followed up with the two customers that came forward. Both say their issues are getting resolved and to their satisfaction.
