Allies for Cherry Point’s Tomorrow will hold a community meeting Thursday at the train depot.
The group tells 9 On Your Side the purpose is to educate the public about what is happening at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point and Fleet Readiness Center East.
The meeting will be 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Information will be offered on future endeavors, including the next generation F-35B Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter and search and rescue Pedro helicopter units.
In addition, the economic impact of these installations to the surrounding community will be outlined, as well as what ACT is doing to preserve the facilities.
MCAS Cherry Point is the largest employer in Craven and Carteret counties, according to ACT.
The group says similar meetings have been held in New Bern and Oriental.
