WNCT’s STEM Teacher of the Month encourages his students to take responsibility for their learning.
Ayden Middle School’s Jason Wade is our honoree for May. He is the STEM Lab Facilitator and is an NC state graduate with a Technology Education degree.
This is the school’s first year implementing the stem program and says it’s already making a difference with his students. “The main goal of stem is to also teach the soft skills that businesses are looking for how to maybe work with someone that you aren’t comfortable working with because they get partnered with different partners every rotation,” he said.
With the STEM Teacher of the Month honors comes a $200 prize. Mr. Wade says he’ll use his money for zip lock bags, balloons, paper cups and paper towels, all things he says his students run through on a regular basis.
