Kinston church hit by bullets in Sunday afternoon shooting

The Kinston Department of Public Safety is investigating a Sunday shooting that left a bullet hole in a church. 

Officers were called to Carver Court Apartments in reference to gunshots just before 4p.m. on Sunday. When officers arrived, they found several shell casings from two different guns. 

During the course of the investigation, officers found two buildings had been hit by bullets. Investigators say one bullet hit the front door of an apartment in Carver Court. 

Officers say St. James AME Church, which is across the street from the apartment complex, was hit several times by bullets.
