Amtrak to mark anniversaries of service in North Carolina

North Carolina’s Amtrak is throwing a month-long celebration to mark service on its two marquee passenger trains.

The Carolinian, which operates daily between New York City and Charlotte, is celebrating its 25th anniversary. The Piedmont, which operates daily between Raleigh and Charlotte, is celebrating its 20th anniversary.

A celebration for the Carolinian, which began Saturday, is scheduled to continue on Monday. The celebration for the Piedmont is scheduled for May 23 and 25.

The celebrations will take place at Amtrak stations in Rocky Mount, Wilson, Selma, Raleigh, Cary, Durham, Burlington, Greensboro, High Point, Salisbury, Kannapolis and Charlotte.
