Carteret and Onslow communities to be hit with rate hike

A utility company that serves communities in Carteret and Onslow Counties wants to water rates about 20 cents per month.

Aqua NC filed the request with the N.C. Utilities Commission to help recover money from its water and sewer systems.

If approved, rates could first average about $46.38 and the hike would start on July 1st.

It would affect about 250,000 people in nearly half of North Carolina counties.
