A father faces multiple charges after disappearing with his son and taking him across state lines.
The Pitt County Detention Center says Jason Pollard faces multiple charges including Misdemeanor Child Abuse and Felony Larceny of Motor Vehicle. Pollard is being held in the detention center under an $8,000 bond.
The North Carolina Highway Patrol arrested Pollard after pulling him over for speeding in Greenville on Saturday. Troopers say Pollard did have his son, Jameson Pollard, in the car at the time. Troopers say Jameson was unharmed.
Jameson, 2, and his father Jason Pollard went missing Thursday night. The 24-year-old is bi-polar, and police worried the son could be in danger.
“It was terrible, I mean was lost. I felt helpless, I felt like I couldn’t do anything for my baby boy,” said Jameson’s mother Jessica Krebs.
Krebs told our sister station in Richmond, VA, WRIC, about the moment she got the call from troopers saying her son had been found safely.
“Like they found him! And I was like, ‘We have to go get him!’” said Krebs.
Krebs and her family drove to Greenville on Saturday to pick up Jameson. The family returned to Virginia on Sunday.
“He was just hugging everyone, saying everyone’s names, giving hugs and kisses. I was like, I miss you, and I love you. And he gave me a kiss, and he told me he loved me and missed me so much,” said Krebs.
Jason and Jessica have been dating for six years and live in the same house. Jason has left before, but had never taken his son.
“I just want him to get the help he needs, but I got baby boy back, so that’s my main concern,” said Krebs.
Pollard is scheduled make his next court appearance on May 6th.
