Pierce Legeion joined the WNCT 9 On Your Side news team in December of 2014. He is currently a meteorologist and digital journalist for WNCT 9 On Your Side First Alert Weather. His anchoring duties include WNCT 9 On Your Side Weekend Morning Edition from 6-8 a.m. Saturday and Sunday as well as general assignment reporting during the week, including People and Places with Pierce on Thursday.
Pierce comes to us from wild and wonderful West Virginia, where he was the morning and noon meteorologist at WDTV, the CBS station in Clarksburg, for over two years. He also was a reporter at times while at WDTV. Pierce started his broadcast career at his hometown TV station, WNCTV, in West Newton, PA, where he did everything from production to weather.
Pierce graduated from Penn State University with a Bachelor of Science in meteorology and also holds the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) seal from the American Meteorological Society. While at Penn State, he was a member of the Campus Weather Service, which creates weather forecasts for web, radio, and TV clients across Pennsylvania. He was also heavily involved with the Penn State Dance Marathon, which has raised millions of dollars for the Four Diamonds Fund & the Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital to assist families and fight childhood cancer.
Despite being a Pennsylvania native, Pierce is no stranger to North Carolina. He lived in Raleigh for over two years before heading back north to work at WDTV. In his spare time, he loves being outdoors biking, hiking, and swimming, and loves the beach. He is thrilled to be back in North Carolina and looks forward to being part of the WNCT First Alert Weather Team & the 9 On Your Side Team.
