Brandon Goldner joined the WNCT 9 On Your Side news team in January of 2014. He is currently a general assignment reporter and digital journalist for WNCT 9 On Your Side across various dayparts.
During his time in the East, Brandon has reported on a wide range of topics including local politics, government spending and economic issues. He’s covered some of the East’s most newsworthy stories including reporting live during Hurricane Arthur, filing stories on the devastating tornados in Beaufort County and being the only T.V. reporter on the scene of the Greenville Halloween River Walk riot.
He’s broken several exclusives and filed investigations into member absences on a Greenville municipal board, traffic safety in Eastern North Carolina and the arrest of an East Carolina University football player.
A graduate of the University of Maryland’s Philip Merrill College of Journalism, Brandon worked for the school’s multimedia news operation, Capital News Service, as an anchor, general assignment/investigative reporter, and producer. At Capital News Service, Brandon reported on-the-scene during the 2013 Navy Yard shooting, took an in-depth look at trends of crime and mental illness among veterans, and was a lead reporter in a five-month groundbreaking investigative report into sea level rise in the state of Maryland.
In addition, Brandon spent time working as a general assignment reporter for KVRR-TV in Fargo, North Dakota and Voice of America in Washington, D.C.
He’s the recipient of multiple awards, including four regional student Emmy Awards.
When he’s not reporting, Brandon enjoys spending time with family and friends and drinking lots of coffee!
