January’s STEM Teacher of the Month is Tucker Creek Middle School’s Michelle Smith. She’s a 20 year veteran of the classroom; this is her first year at Tucker Creek. Started out as an agriculture teacher at the high school level teaching AG engineering and welding. She said one of the things she’s always focused on was teaching her students problem solving and trouble shooting skills.
Smith’s 8th grade class is learning aerodynamics and one of their modules include building water propelled rockets.
She’ll use her STEM Teacher of the Month award to help purchase user friendly 3D printer software so students can design key chains and more.
