As part of Earth Day celebrations, a local school planted trees and accepted money won in a national sustainability contest.

3rd graders at the Oakwood School in Greenville recently won their division in the Scotties Trees Rock video contest. Officials tasked students with creating a video about the importance of trees.

The students received their $10,000 check Wednesday.  They also got to plant trees on their campus.

The students plan to use the money to build a greenhouse and grow fresh vegetables for their school.
