New allegations against Donald Sterling this morning. A new report claims the LA Clippers owner tried to stage a cover-up after a recording of his racist comments was made public.
Meanwhile the woman at the heart of the scandal is speaking about it publicly for a second time. The NBA is accusing Sterling and the Clippers organization of “destroying evidence relating to the recording.”
The LA times reports according to a 30 page summary of charges it obtained the league also alleges Sterling asked V. Stiviano, the former girlfriend who recorded his racist remarks, to lie and tell the NBA it wasn’t Sterling on the tape.
Stiviano sat down with talk show host Dr. Phil for an interview airing later today. He asked her about the recordings, “were disclosures made when you were recording him?” Stiviano gave variable answers to that. “Sure he knew, did I tell him every time? No.”
The NBA banned and fined Sterling after the recording was made public by TMZ last month. League owners may vote to terminate sterling’s ownership at a June 3rd meeting
Sterling’s lawyer sent a letter to the league saying he won’t pay the 2.5 million dollar fine, and is threatening to sue if he isn’t afforded due process.
